CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After honoring its 2020 senior class, the #5 Coe College wrestling team improved its record to 9-1 in dual matches with a 42-6 victory over non-conference opponent Augustana on Thursday evening. Seniors Jordan Challis, Bailey Chyma, Josh Edel, Cole Erickson, Amier Khamis and Taylor Mehmen were all recognized prior to the dual. The Kohawks won eight of the ten bouts during the dual including four falls from the 141, 165, 184 and 197 weight classes.
 
After a close loss at 125, the Kohawks ripped off eight-straight victories to take control of the match and lock up the dual victory. The Vikings forfeited at 133 following the opening win but Nick Elias came up with a first-period pin which was followed by back-to-back major decisions from Josh Gerke and Cole Erickson. Luke Silva added to Coe's total with another first-round pin while Tristin Westphal followed with a major decision to put the match out of reach. Josh Edel and Garet Sims then picked up consecutive pins in the first period, giving the Kohawks a total score of 42 points. The Vikings picked up a dramatic 12-11 victory at 285 to close out of the match but it was not nearly enough to challenge Coe.
