CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams ended their dual-meet seasons over the weekend, with competition in Davenport against St. Ambrose Friday night and conference match-up versus Luther for Senior Day in Kohawk Natatorium, Saturday afternoon. The men and women fell 60-156 and 57-162 to the Bees on Friday, while picking it back up with an A-R-C win on Saturday. The men won 147-85, the women triumphed 132-62, bringing the Kohawks to an undefeated A-R-C record for the season.
On Friday night, the Kohawks took all men's diving events with the power of junior Abe Sala, earning wins in the one and three meter dives. With a tight .53-second advantage over St. Ambrose's Andrea Adam, senior Katie Freeland took the W in the women's 50 yard freestyle at 26.40, while sophomore Sammi Hall beat out the Bees' Catie Schimmelpfenning by .08 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Seniors Phil Cunningham, Eric Ford, Quincy Markham, Joshua Stepanek, Blake Sterns, Monica Douglass, and Katie Freeland were all honored prior to the Men's 100 yard breaststroke on Saturday afternoon against Luther. Freshman Zach Kolker took home three wins individually, competing in the 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle, and won the nail-biter 500-yard freestyle by .13 against the Norse's Matt Staver. Freeland and Hall were big winners again for the women's team, earning three titles each, including a 1.03 personal jump in the 50-yard freestyle, Friday to Saturday, for Freeland.
