Box Score MEMPHIS, Tn. - The Coe College baseball team fell 9-6 to Transylvania on Saturday morning in its second of three games at the Rhodes College Invite. The Kohawks took an early 3-1 lead after the first inning of the game but the Pioneers scored five runs across the second and third innings to take control. The Kohawks got one back in the fourth but Transylvania scored again in the fifth and sixth inning to put the game out of reach for Coe. The loss drops Coe to 0-2 while Transylvania improves to 1-1. 
 
The Kohawks collected eight hits in the game, including a two-run homer from Riley LeGrand and doubles from Jordan Kaplan and TJ Johnson. LeGrand (2), Kaplan, Johnson, Daniel Berger and TJ Deardorff all added RBI for Coe. 
 
Transylvania got on the board in the first inning after a sacrifice fly but the Kohawks answered in the bottom half of the first with three runs to flip the score. Kaplan kicked off the scoring for Coe with an RBI-double, scoring LeGrand. Berger and Deardorff then produced back-to-back hits to make it three runs for the Kohawks in the opening frame. 
 
The Pioneers answered with runs of their own in the second and third innings, piling on five runs over the two innings to take control of the game. The Kohawks scored in the fourth but Transylvania scored three more runs in the fifth and sixth inning to extend its lead. Coe got a two-run homer from LeGrand in the final inning of the game but it could not muster up any more of a relay in the ninth. 
 
Up next: The Kohawks wrap up the Rhodes College Invite tomorrow with a matchup against #2 Webster at 10:30 a.m. in Memphis.
