CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's basketball team cruised to an 85-59 victory over Central College on Saturday afternoon. The Kohawks dominated the opening half, outscoring 48-26 as
Jarad Kruse scored 16 first-half points. Coe continued to click in the second half, shooting 40.5 percent from the floor while forcing Central to shoot just 34.5. The victory, which is Coe's fourth-straight, moves it to 15-5 on the year and 7-4 in the A-R-C while Central falls to 4-13 and 1-8 in the league.

Jarad Kruse again led Coe on offense, posting 20 points, six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal while playing 22 minutes.

Cael Schmitt and
Jacob Robertson finished with 13, 13 and 12 points in the contest, joining Kruse in double-figures while Thrapp's seven boards led the team. As a team, Coe shot 48.6 percent from the field, racking up 17 assists on 34 made baskets in the game. Defensively, the Kohawks recorded three steals and three blocks, holding the Dutch to 32.2 percent shooting and 17.4 percent from deep.

- Coe opened the game on fire, scoring six of the first eight points to take an early 6-2 lead just two minutes in. The Dutch then got a pair of free threes on their next possession to get them within two points. The Kohawks took control of the contest over the next few moments, answering with a dominant 10-3 stretch to push their lead to nine points with 13:55 left in the first.
- The squads went back and forth during the next seven minutes of action but Central narrowly edged Coe slightly to make it 25-19. The Kohawks regained momentum in the game before the end of the half, ripping off a 23-7 spurt during the final seven minutes. Kruse and Schmitt scored seven points each during the stretch while Robertson and Thrapp chipped in with five and four points each. Coe, which led 48-26 at the break, shot 57.6 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from deep in the first half while holding Central to just 30.0 percent shooting.
- Both teams were cold to start the second half but the Dutch scored the first four points of the frame to cut the deficit to 18 with 15:56 remaining. Coe settled into the half after a timeout, outscoring Central 10-4 during the next two-plus minutes to push the lead back to 20 points with less than 14 minutes to play.
- The lead continued to grow for Coe over the next few minutes as the Kohawks scored seven unanswered points to make it 65-36 while forcing the Dutch into a timeout with 9:29 left. Central continued to scrap following the timeout, slowly chipping away at Coe's lead but the host's advantage proved too large for any Dutch comeback attempt.
Up next: The Kohawks hit the road for their next game, traveling to Dubuque for an A-R-C contest at Loras College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
