ORLANDO, Fl. - The Coe College softball team took down Salve Regina 9-7 and #19 Rowan 9-1 earlier today and extended its win streak to nine games on Friday while ending its spring break trip a perfect 8-0. The Kohawks and Seahawks battled into extra innings in the opening game but Coe grabbed three runs in the top of the ninth inning for the win on RBI from
Natalie Blank, Ruby Kappeler and
Bree Mangelsen. Coe continued its winning ways in game two against 19th-ranked Rowan, scoring runs in all but one inning during the 9-1 run-rule victory. The wins move the Kohawks to 10-4 overall while Salve Regina and Rowan drop to 4-2 and 10-5 respectively.

- Coe got started right from the jump in the opener as Blank, who was 4-4 at the plate in the game, doubled in the top of the first to score Heather Boeckenstedt. Ruby Kappeler made it 2-0 one batter later, driving home Blank on an RBI single as she recorded her eighth RBI of the season.
- The runs kept coming for the Kohawks in the top of the second inning, adding three runs on two hits. Nicki Wood reached on a fielder's choice with two outs and stole second to move into scoring position prior to an RBI-single from Boeckenstedt who made it 3-0. Blank kept her career-day up in the next plate appearance, hitting her second homer in as many days, driving home Boeckenstedt to make it 5-0.
- Salve Regina stayed alive in the bottom of the third inning, scoring one run on one hit to stay in the game. The Seahawk big inning came in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs on five hits including three different RBI singles. The game then went scoreless for the next three innings until the game went to extras as both Coe and Salve Regina scored one in the eighth.
- The Kohawks took advantage of the tiebreaker rule in the top of the ninth inning en route to the victory, scoring three runs on four hits to give the Kohawk pitchers plenty of insurance. Blank stayed hot and delivered another clutch hit, leading off the inning with an RBI-double as Boeckenstedt scored again to make it 7-6. Kappeler added another RBI in the next at-bat, driving home Blank to give Coe a two-run advantage. The final run of the inning came one batter later as Mangelsen recorded a sacrifice fly, allowing Kappeler to score from third after she moved up 60 feet on a line out. The Kohawk pitchers surrendered one run in the bottom of the ninth inning on an RBI single but a fly-out and strikeout ended the threat for the Seahawks as Abbie White recorded the final out.

- The Kohawks dominated from the jump in the second game against the Profs, scoring a pair of runs in the opening inning. Kappeler delivered again for the Kohawks, doubling down the left-field line to score Blank, making it 1-0. Skyler Stookey picked up an RBI in the next plate appearance, driving home Kappeler on a single up the middle as Coe took a 2-0 lead. Both teams went scoreless in the second inning, despite Coe threatening with runners on first and second in the bottom of the inning.
- Coe added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning, recording two hits in the frame. Kappeler and Stookey reached to lead off the inning with Stookey doubling to make it second and third. Shaylee Dodd picked up another big hit for the Kohawks two batters later, doubling to right-center while driving home Stookey and Kappeler to make it 4-0. The final run of the inning came on a fielder's choice as Chloe Severson reached on a fielder's choice before an error allowed Dodd to score.
- Rowan's lone run came in the top of the fourth inning on a two-out RBI-single but Abbie White buckled down and avoided any further damage. The Kohawks continued to click on offense in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring two runs on one hit to grab a 7-1 lead. Boeckenstedt, Blank and Kappeler all reached to start the inning, loading the bases with no one out. The first run of the inning came two batters later as Addie Menke reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Boeckenstedt to score the sixth run of the game. Two Kohawks later, Keera Ball walked with the bases loaded and picked up the RBI as Blank scored to make it 7-1.
- Coe ended the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, getting two runs on two hits while taking advantage of two Rowan errors. Wood and Boeckenstedt reached safely to start the inning and quickly moved up 60 feet each as Blank executed the sacrifice bunt. Kappeler then won the game for Coe, singling to center which allowed Wood to score from third. Rowan recorded a throwing error on the Kappeler single and the speedy Boeckenstedt took advantage, sprinting home to end the game with the mercy rule.
Up next: Coe returns to the Midwest next week following its spring break trip, hosting Cornell College on Wednesday, March 23 in a Bremner Cup double header at Clark Field.
