Box Score 2 INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Coe College baseball team split a doubleheader with Simpson College on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-3 in game one before grabbing a 7-1 victory in game two. The Kohawks and Storm both struggled offensively in the opening game but the visitors erased a 3-1 deficit in the eighth inning to tie the score. Simpson then won the game in the ninth, getting a pinch-hit walk-off home run to secure the victory in the first game. The Kohawks answered in game two, scoring seven runs to help starting pitcher
Jordan Joselit who allowed just five hits and one run in six innings of work.
Austin Divello entered in relief of Joselit in the seventh inning and worked three scoreless frames to earn the save for Coe. The split moves the Kohawks to 14-12 overall and 9-6 in the A-R-C while Simpson moves to 13-14 and 4-9 in the league.

Game Facts
- Both teams were scoreless in the first two innings but Simpson jumped ahead with one run in the third inning. The Storm took advantage of a one-out walk and a pair of passed balls, getting an RBI groundout later in the frame to grab the lead. The hosts added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, extending the lead to 3-0. Both Simpson runs came with two outs in the inning, getting three-straight singles with two down.
- The Kohawks finally answered with one run in the top of the seventh, getting a leadoff double from Creighton Kreshel who later came around to score on a Simpson error. Coe continued its comeback attempt in the next inning, tying the game at three thanks to one hit and a pair of Storm errors. Mitchell Eckardt walked with one down and was later joined by TJ Johnson who reached on the first error of the inning. Reid Rausch then tied the game with one swing, singling through the left side to score Eckardt and TJ Johnson.
- Simpson answered the call in the bottom of the ninth, doing more damage with two outs in the inning. The Storm got their first base runner after an error by the Kohawks and quickly got another after a walk. Simpson then turned to a pinch-hitter with the game on the line and got a walk-off three-run homer to secure the game-two win.

Game Facts
- The Kohawks quickly jumped in front thanks to a pair of runs in the opening inning. Coe got a one-out single from Eckardt who stole second to move into scoring position. Jack Allison and Reid Rausch then loaded the bases for the Kohawks, reaching on back-to-back free passes before Tyler Elliott reached on an error. On the play, Eckardt and Rausch both scored unearned, giving the visitors an early 2-0 lead.
- Joselit was cruising early on, putting zeros on the board in the first, second and third innings but Simpson got its lone run in the bottom of the fourth. The Storm got three-straight singles to lead off the inning, scoring once but Joselit buckled down and got three-straight outs to avoid further damage.
- The offense picked up Joselit two innings later in the sixth, scoring one run to restore the three-run margin. Rausch produced the only run of the frame, leading off with a solo homer, his third of the campaign. The Kohawk bats extended the lead to six in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs on three hits to provide some solid insurance. Elliott provided the biggest hit during the inning, driving home Allison and TJ Johnson with a single to right-center. Divello entered the game with the six-run cushion and made quick work of the Storm, allowing just three hits en route to the save.
Up next: The Kohawks will be back on the diamond on Tuesday for another A-R-C doubleheader, hosting Luther College at Daniels Park at 1 PM.
