CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College baseball team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Loras College in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. The Duhawks jumped ahead early in the game, scoring three runs in the first inning on a pair of RBI doubles. The visitors added an insurance run in the third inning and held Coe to just four hits en route to the victory. The loss drops Coe to 16-15 on the season and 11-9 in the league while Loras improves to 26-8 and 10-8 in the A-R-C.

Game Facts
- Loras immediately took the lead in the rubber game, scoring three runs in the first inning. The Duhawks took advantage of three hits in the frame, including a pair of RBI doubles which led the visitors to the lead. Coe registered a hit in both the first and second innings but Loras avoided damage in each.
- The Duhawks added an insurance run in the top of the third, scoring on an error by Coe to grab a 4-0 lead. The Kohawks threatened a few innings later, getting a pair of two-out walks from Jacob Brosius and Reid Rausch but a groundout got the visitors out of the jam.
- Coe starting pitcher TJ Deardorff continued to dominate after allowing some early runs, keeping the hosts in touch with five-straight scoreless innings. The Kohawk bats had a run-scoring opportunity in the bottom of the seventh inning, getting two runners on with two outs but again Loras kept Coe scoreless with a fly out to center. Loras then turned to its closer for the eighth and ninth innings, getting a pair of scoreless innings en route to the victory.
Up next: The Kohawks return to the diamond on Tuesday, April 26 for a single game at Luther College which is scheduled to begin at 3 PM.
