Women’s Tennis Earns Two Victories to Open Fall Schedule

PELLA, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team opens its fall schedule on Saturday with a pair of A-R-C victories, knocking off Central 5-4 in the morning and sweeping Simpson in the afternoon. It was a battle in the opening match of the day as the Kohawks took an early lead against the Dutch with a 2-1 result in doubles play. Coe went on to clinch the victory with singles wins from Madison Schultz, Emma Lassen and Claudia Bilkey, who combined to drop just eight total games. The Kohawks stayed perfect on the day with a dominant effort against the Storm, taking down Simpson 9-0. Jania Carter-Johnson and Amy Whitcomb both needed a tie-breaking set in singles but each secured the victory to complete the sweep.
