GRINNELL, Iowa - The Coe College men's track and field team had a strong showing in its opening indoor meet of the 2023-24 season on Friday evening at Grinnell, breaking a pair of school records while wining numerous events.
Paul Cory and
Lewis Kleman made history at the opening competition of the year, breaking the school record in the 300m and 3000m respectively. Cory's time of 35.96 earned him first place at the meet and the school record which had stood for 23 years, previously held by Ryan Kolpin. Kleman continued to etch his name all over the Coe record books, breaking a 16-year-old record set by Brad O'Neil with a time of 8:38.67, also good for first place at the opener.
Chris Baker joined his teammates in the record books, posting a new personal-best mark in the indoor shoot put and weight throw, moving into fourth and seventh all-time at Coe.
