CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The (RV) Coe College men's basketball team won its seventh-straight game of the season on Wednesday evening at Kohawk Arena, defeating Cornell College 72-53. The win, which clinched a season-sweep of Cornell, featured an outstanding night from
Bennett Sherry who scored a career-high 30 points while adding four rebounds, four blocks, three assists and one steal. Sherry and Coe controlled the game from the opening whistle, easing past Cornell which held the lead for just 14 seconds. The Kohawks continued to show up on the defensive end of the ball in the win, forcing 18 turnovers which they turned into 27 points.
TJ Schnurr and
Josh Schloe joined Sherry in double figures, adding 11 and 10 points respectively.

GAME FACTS
- The game was sloppy for both in the opening minutes but Coe took advantage, opening an early 12-6 run thanks to eight quick points from Bennett Sherry. Cornell closed the gap to four over the next three minutes, making it 17-13 with just under eight minutes left in the half. The Kohawks pulled away in the next phase of the game, outscoring Cornell 13-3 before the three-minute mark to extend their advantage to 30-16. The run was sparked by Brady Klahn who hit a pair of 3s while Schnurr added five. The Rams kept themselves in the contest in the final stretch of the period, going back-and-forth with Coe which held a 35-21 lead after 20 minutes. Coe got the first five points of the second half to gain a 19-point lead but Cornell stormed back with a 17-9 run to pull within 11 with 12:29 to play. The hosts quickly put an end to the run, putting together an impressive 13-4 run over the next four minutes. Sherry propelled the run for his team, scoring nine of the 13 points. Coe handled the final 10 minutes of action, keeping Cornell from making any further comeback attempts.
