DECATUR, Ill. - The Coe College baseball team suffered its first two losses of the 2023 season on Sunday, falling 4-2 to #6 UW-Stevens Point before dropping a 7-1 decision to Millikin. Coe fell behind early in the matchup with last season's NCAA regional opponent, spotting the Pointers three runs in the top of the third inning. Coe battled back and slice the deficit to one on a single from
Reid Rausch but the opponents added an insurance run in the fifth and thwarted any comeback attempt from the Kohawks late in the game. Millikin also jumped out to an early lead over Coe, grabbing one run in the first and third inning. Rausch answered again for the Kohawks in the fourth, slicing the deficit to just one with his first home run of the season. The Big Blue went on to score three in the sixth and two in the seventh, adding the extra insurance runs en route to the victory. The losses drop Coe to 1-2 on the season while UWSP and Millikin move to 2-0 and 8-3 respectively.
