Cook Hits 600 Career Wins as Baseball Takes Final Regular Season Series at Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Coe College Baseball head coach Steve Cook hit another career milestone on Saturday afternoon, earning his 600th win in charge of the Kohawks as his team defeated Loras 20-2. Coe took the opening game of the series on Friday evening 10-5 before the second game was suspended due to rain with the Kohawks in front 15-1 after five innings. Cook's team secured the landmark victory over the Duhawks earlier on Saturday, finishing off the contest from Friday evening. Coe quickly jumped ahead in the opening game of the series, getting a pair of runs in the first inning but Loras responded with three in bottom to take the lead. The Duhawks added two more to their total in the third but Coe exploded for eight runs in the sixth to flip the momentum in its favor. The high-scoring inning featured seven hits but none more damaging than Jack Allison's second homer of the year as the junior belted a go-ahead grand slam with the game tied at five. Coe's offense continued to surge in game two, scoring 15 runs in the opening three innings. The Kohawks returned to action on Saturday and finished the job, securing Cook's 600th win in style with five more runs in the seventh. Loras bounced back in the third and final game of the series, earning a 6-5 decision thanks to a ninth-inning walk-off homer. With the results, Coe ends the regular season with a 22-15 record and a 14-10 mark in the A-R-C while Loras moves to 25-15 and 15-9 in the league.
