GRINNELL, Iowa – The Coe College men's track & field team opened its 2024-25 indoor season last Friday evening at the Grinnell College Opener. The Kohawk men picked up where they left off from the spring season in 2024, securing 15 point-scoring finishes in the event and numerous top-three finishes. Chris Baker made headlines to start his senior season, winning the shot put and finishing second in the weight throw with a pair of throws that rank inside the top 20 in DIII. The Cedar Rapids native won the shot put with a toss of 14.83m which is 19th in the nation. He followed with a second-place finish in the weight throw, posting a mark of 16.92m which ranks 13th in DIII. Gad Kanago secured a pair of second-place finishes in the 800 and 1 Mile runs, posting times of 2:13.34 and 4:53.45. Davian Santiago (Triple Jump), Tomas Bueso (Shot Put) and the 4x400 relay team of Isaiah Jakel, Robert Hansen, Rhett Mesch and Ryan Hines rounded out the second-place finishers while Colin Chojnowski (800 Run), Emerion King (Weight Throw) and the 4x200 relay team of Isaiah Morgan, Talon Sargent, Colin Chojnowski and Joshua Peters concluded the podium finishes for the men.
