CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's track and field team competed over the weekend at the Mount Mercy Distance Carnival & Open, continuing their outdoor campaign with some solid results at the two-day event.
Lewis Kleman made history yet again for the Kohawk men, securing a first-place finish in the 5000m with a new school and stadium record mark of 14:50.54. Kleman is the first Kohawk to ever hit the sub-15-minute mark, smashing the previous record set in 2009 by nearly 10 seconds. Kleman was joined by four other teammates with top-eight finishes as
Chris Baker, Tim Long, Carson Strukel and
Kade Kreinbring secured top-eight places. Baker claimed fourth in the Hammer and fifth in the discus, posting a new season-best mark in the discus with a toss of 45.57m.
Gad Kanago, Cole Kirkham, Andrew Livaudais and
Isaiah Jakel combined for Coe's top relay finish at the event, taking first in the 4x800 with a time of 8:47.13.
