CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The no. 12 Coe College wrestling team turned in a solid effort on the opening day of the NWCA DIII National Duals, picking up victories over Concordia-Moorhead, Albion and no. 11 Alvernia while suffering its lone defeat to no. 8 TCNJ. Coe began the day with a victory over Concordia-Moorhead in the preliminary round, defeating the Cobber 29-22 with bonus-point victories from Brayden Parke, Dresden Grimm, Ty Koedam, LJ Richardson and Jared Voss. Brayden Parke got another victory to start off the only loss of the day, earning a tech fall win over no. 13 Matt Griffin of TCNJ. Koedam and Damari Dancy claimed the remaining two wins for the Kohawks in a 25-14 defeat to the Lions who suffered a narrow defeat in the next round to no. 2 UW-La Crosse. Coe bounced back with a dominant victory against Albion, claiming a 38-7 win behind six bonus-point victories. Brayden Parke secured his perfect 4-0 day with another ranked victory against Alvernia, starting the match with a first-period fall of no. 11 Keito Shaw. Bryce Parke, Kael Kurtz, Jared Voss, Mathieu Arsenault and Russell Coil sealed the victory for the Kohawks. Coe will face no. 6 Baldwin Wallace for a chance to wrestle for fifth place tomorrow at 9 AM.
