CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The American Rivers Conference announced its 2025 Women's Tennis Postseason honors Thursday afternoon. The Kohawk women's tennis program dominated the announcement as
Sophia Fain, Aisha Gurung and
Mike Strydom were named the league's Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year, sweeping the major awards. Additionally,
Addison Leasure, Alice Tysoe and
Alli Hagness earned all-conference or honorable mention honors, giving the Kohawks a total of five all-conference selections. The awards sweep marks the second straight season in which the Kohawks have earned all three major awards and the second consecutive season that Fain was named the league's Player of the Year.
Fain, a junior from Waterloo, is earning her second consecutive conference MVP honor after a standout campaign. She was 7-1 in A-R-C singles matches and 6-1 in doubles matches, winning six of her seven matches in straight sets. Gurung, a freshman from Nepal, put together a dominant season in her first year with the Kohawks. She posted an impressive 7-1 record at a mixture of no. 2 and no. 3 singles while going 7-1 in doubles matches. Strydom, in his sixth season with the Kohawks, helped his coaches earn staff of the year for the third time. The Kohawks finished 7-1 in A-R-C play and 7-2 overall while sweeping the major medals at the A-R-C Individual Championships.
Joining Gurung and Fain on the all-conference singles and doubles teams are
Addison Leasure and
Alice Tysoe who helped round out Coe's lineup. Leasure was 8-0 in A-R-C matches, winning each in straight sets while posting a 5-1 mark in doubles matches. Tysoe had a strong 6-1 mark in conference singles matches and 6-1 in doubles matches in her sophomore season. Hagness rounds out the all-conference selections for the Kohawks, picking up honorable mention honors after a 4-0 record in singles and a 6-1 doubles record.
