GRINNELL, IOWA — The Coe College women's basketball team kept its unbeaten start to the 2025-26 season alive Tuesday evening in a road matchup at Grinnell, defeating the Pioneers 75-54 to move to 3-0. The Kohawks and Pioneers were fairly even through the first three quarters with the Kohawks narrowly outscoring the hosts in each of the opening three periods. Coe, which led by seven heading into the fourth quarter, exploded in the final period and ultimately cruised to victory. The Kohawks scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter and never looked back, stretching the lead to 21 before the final whistle. Coe's offense featured a balanced attack with four players reaching double figures.
Caydee Kirkham and
Audrie Helmrichs each record double-doubles to lead the Kohawks, scoring 21 points each while Kirkham had 12 boards and Helmrichs 10.
Taryn Kravig chipped in with 14 points, five assists and four rebounds and
Kelly Knight was the final Kohawk to hit double figures, scoring 12 points on 4-of-8 from deep.

- Grinnell scored the opening five points of the game, establishing the early lead. The Kohawks responded with seven straight of their own, getting buckets from Knight, Kravig and Helmrichs to settle into the game. Coe kept clicking, maintaining a four-point lead for most of the period until a Pioneer 3 late in the quarter made it 15-14. Grinnell hit a 3 at the start of the second, taking a lead at 17-15. The next few minutes were back-and-forth but a quick 7-0 run put Coe back ahead 35-27 with under three minutes left in the period. Grinnell stayed close with a stretch of its own, pulling within two at 35-33 before a buzzer-beating layup from Helmrichs gave Coe a four-point lead at the break. The Kohawks quickly pushed their lead to double-digits in the third quarter, scoring the first 12 points of the frame to make it 49-36. Grinnell slowly got back into the game, hitting a 3 with 2:14 left in the period to cut the deficit to five. Laiken Haas responded with a 3 on the following possession to put Coe back in front by three possessions but another 3 from the Pioneers in the final minute made it a seven-point game ahead of the fourth. Helmrichs scored back-to-back buckets in a slow-starting fourth, pushing the lead to 11 with 7:29 to play. Knight extended the lead and put it away for Coe with a 3 at the six-minute mark, making it 64-50. Grinnell scored just one point in the final five minutes as the Kohawks ramped up the defensive pressure, easing over the finish line 9-1 run.
