ORLANDO, Fl. – The Coe College baseball team split a pair of games on its penultimate day in Florida, defeating UW-Stevens Point 4-2 before falling to U Chicago 12-2. The Kohawks benefited from a pitching gem from
Jack Walsh in game one as the sophomore surrendered just four hits and two earned runs while striking out five batters in seven innings. His offense did enough to back him, getting RBI from
John Wille, Tyce Johnson, Jack Allison and
CJ Johnson.
Brady Alexander and
Evan Bender came in from the bullpen for the eighth and ninth innings, keeping the Pointers off the board as Coe extended its winning streak to five. The Kohawk bats struggled in the second game of the day, registering just three hits as U Chicago scored 12 runs on 11 hits. The Maroons took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, adding two in the fourth before scoring six in the fifth to put it out of reach.
