Chris Baker destroys weight throw school record with seventh-best toss in DIII

WAVERLY, Iowa – Coe College men's track & field thrower Chris Baker came up clutch in the biggest moment Saturday morning at the Wartburg Last Chance Qualifier, setting a new school record in the weight throw with the seventh-longest toss in DIII for the 2024-25 season. Baker, a senior who qualified for the 2024 NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships in the hammer toss, entered a new stratosphere Saturday with his record-breaking toss, recording an incredible mark of 19.37m. His throw is the first in school history over 19 meters and the longest among all A-R-C competitors. Baker will wait for official word from the NCAA tomorrow but is firmly in position to receive a bid to the DIII Indoor National Championships March 14-15 in Rochester, New York.
