Men’s Track & Field posts nine point-scoring finishes at Mustang Distance Carnival & Open

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College men's track and field team continued its outdoor season on Friday and Saturday at Mount Mercy's Mustang Distance Carnival & Open. The Kohawk men recorded nine point-scoring finishes including a pair of relay teams that finished inside the top eight. Coe's top finishing team was the 4x100 squad in the open division, running a time of 42.94 as Joshua Peters, Isaiah Morgan, Isaiah Woodbury and Talon Sargent posted the mark that would have been sixth in the elite division. Talon Sargent, Jabari Woodbury, Robert Hansen and Isaiah Morgan continued the solid relay efforts for the men in the 4x400 relay, recording Coe's fastest time since 2019 with a mark of 3:24.85. Chris Baker and Tomas Bueso each had a pair of point-scoring finishes during the competition with Baker earning second and fourth in the discus and Bueso placing eighth and third in the hammer and shot put. Bueso's mark of 44.57 was just shy of a top-ten mark and crushed his previous personal best. Talon Sargent continued to make an impact in his first year with the program, posting a new top-10 time in the 100m prelims with a mark of 10.87 before a seventh-place finish in the finals. Jex Schutjer completed Coe's point-scoring efforts for the meet, placing sixth in the shot put open division with a toss of 12.10m.
