Chris Baker ends career with second-team all-American honors in hammer throw at NCAA Championship

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Coe College men's track & field thrower Chris Baker ended his illustrious career with a second consecutive All-American honor, placing 13th in the hammer throw Saturday afternoon at the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships. The Cedar Rapids native entered the championship seeded 20th and climbed the leaderboard in a strong field that featured the highest qualifying standard in DIII history. Baker hit 56.93 in his opening throw before his championship-best toss of 58.20 in the second round, earning him the 13th-place finish. He joins an exclusive club of Kohawk men's track & field athletes that have earned numerous All-American awards, becoming the 12th all-time and first since 2003.
