CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College baseball team dropped a winner's bracket matchup with top-seeded Buena Vista Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium, falling 3-0 to the Beavers. Coe's offense was stifled by BVU starter Mark Eddie who pitched a scoreless complete game while holding the Kohawks to just four total hits. Kohawk starter
Ethan O'Donnell did his best on the mound for the Kohawks, pitching eight strong innings while allowing three runs on seven hits but the lack of offense proved too detrimental. BVU got the lead in the third with a sacrifice fly and saw Coe go in order in the fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth innings while leaving its lone two base runners on in the sixth and eighth.
Mitchell Eckardt had three of Coe's four hits on the day while
Jake Brosius managed to record the final knock.

- Brosius got a two-out single in top of the first inning and quickly stole second before a walk from Tyce Johnson put early pressure on the Beavers. Coe failed to capitalize, seeing the chance go by with an inning-ending fly out. BVU grabbed the lead in the third, using a leadoff single and one out double to put runners on second and third. O'Donnell did well to work around the jam, allowing one on a sacrifice fly before a rally-killing K. Eckardt smoked a sharp single to left to leadoff the sixth but was left on first after three straight batters were retired by Eddie. Coe's second basemen got another hit in the eighth, this time with two outs on a single to right but a fly out again left him stranded. BVU immediately extended its lead to start the bottom of the eighth, getting a solo homer before adding another insurance run on a double to left. Coe went 1, 2, 3 in the top of the ninth, flying out three straight times as Buena Vista sealed the win.
