Nailor hits game-winning jumper in double-overtime to take down Central

PELLA, Iowa — The Coe College men's basketball team picked up its fourth straight victory in dramatic style Wednesday evening, outlasting the Central College Dutch for a 94-92 win in double overtime. The Kohawks and Dutch were evenly matched for much of regulation, each trading small leads throughout the contest. Central took advantage of some strong shooting in the second half to slowly build a seven-point lead with just over five minutes to play. Coe fought back in the closing stretch of the second half, using a 16-9 run that featured 10 points from Kanyon Bryte to tie the game before the end of regulation as a layup from Cooper Nailor was the decisive bucket. The teams were inseparable in the first OT period with Deuce Walters converting a three-point play before a free throw from the Dutch forced the second stanza. It was more of the same in the second extra period as Coe and Central traded haymakers. The Kohawks got the last say despite trailing 92-90 with 51 seconds as Bryte tied the game at 92 with a layup. Nailor then found the clutch game-winning bucket moments later, drifting into the lane before pulling up with a jumper that found the bottom of the net for the game-winner. Bryte finished with a career-best performance in the victory, totaling 29 points, 18 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 37 minutes. Jackson Bowman (18), Walters (13), Nailor (11) and Jackson Newell rounded out Coe's double-digit scorers while Ryan Dolphin added eight.
