Wrestling shows well on opening day of NCAA Regional with 10 advancing to day two action

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Coe College wrestling team opened the 2026 NCAA DIII Region VI Championships Friday in Dubuque, turning in an outstanding performance with eight Kohawks advancing to the semifinals and two still alive in the consolation brackets. Brayden Parke (125), Brody Neighbor (133), Dresden Grimm (141), Zachary Montez (157), Bo Koedam (165), Justin Wirtz (184), Jean Ngoma (197) and Wyatt Smith (285) make up the eight Kohawks who went unbeaten on the day. Those undefeated Kohawks picked up 14 bonus point victories to help vault Coe into second place with 112.5 points after Friday's action. Ty Koedam (149) and Anthony Montez (174) are both still around in the consolation fifth rounds of their respective brackets, needing three more victories to keep their national tournament hopes alive.
