CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Coe College baseball team suffered a defeat to league-leading Luther College Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three-game set, falling 13-4 to the Norse at Bill Quinby Field. The Kohawks, who closed out home American Rivers Conference action for 2026, fell behind in the top of the third inning on a two-out, three-run homer. The Norse would add three more in the fourth and two in the fifth before the Kohawks could stop the bleeding. Coe's offense managed to respond with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, punctuated by a three-run homer from
Ryan Thoreson that brought the hosts within four. Luther responded with three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to put the game away for good, taking control and never looking back. Thoreson registered Coe's lone three RBI in the game while
Jon Wille posted the lone multi-hit performance for the Kohawks.

- It was a slow start for both offenses, combining for just two base runners in the opening two frames. The Norse took the lead thanks to a pair of one-out walks and the big blast with two gone, going ahead 3-0 after the top of the third. Luther kept the momentum rolling in the fourth, scoring three more on four hits, including a pair of RBI singles. The visitors didn't stop in the fifth, adding two more on three hits and an additional two RBI singles. The Kohawks responded right away, pulling three runs back in the bottom of the inning, one on a wild pitch and then three on a big swing from Thoreson. Luther managed to get the runs back and more in the next two innings, pulling away for good with three in the sixth and two more insurance runs in the seventh.
