CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College men's and women's swimming and diving head coach
Joe Tristan announced this week the hiring of
Kiara Bissen as the program's full-time assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 school year. A 2025 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Bissen brings a wealth of competitive and coaching experience to Coe. Kiara claimed seven WIAC titles in her collegiate career after spending her first season at St. Thomas University, qualifying for three relays at the NCAA Championships in her junior year. Bissen was the team captain her senior year and went on to receive a Master's of Science in Sports Leadership from the University of Wisconsin - Madison following her undergraduate experience.
"I'm excited to work with Kiara and I think she'll make an immediate impact to our program," said Tristan. "I look forward to working with her to help our Kohawks continue to excel both in the water and in the classroom."
Bissen was named to the Dean's List all three years at UWEC and secured College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in 2024-25 as she displayed her excellence in the pool and in the classroom. Bissen has coached summer league, YMCA Clubs and high school teams for five seasons and spent time at Ridgewood Pool in Madison, host of one of the nation's largest amateur swim meets with over 2,000 athletes and 6,000 total attendees.
"I'm super excited for this opportunity to not only pass on the knowledge I've gained as a swimmer and coach but also to learn more from the coaches, athletes, and community at Coe!" said Bissen. "I look forward to meeting everyone and beginning our journey together!"
