Brian Ruffles

After spending six seasons as an assistant coach under former head coach Justin Jennings, Ruffles took over as Head Coach of the Coe men's and women's swimming and diving programs in September of 2014. During Ruffles time at Coe, he has been a graduate assistant, intern and volunteer. In addition to his duties at Coe, he was the Head Coach and Youth Team Coordinator for the Linn-Mar Swim Team. Ruffles had previously spent six years as an assistant coach with the Cedar Rapids Aquatics Association.

In 2019, the Coe women's team won their first Liberal Arts Conference championship in program history. Seven male and seven female swimmers/divers earned All-Liberal Arts Championship selections. The women repeated as Liberal Arts Champions in 2020 while 15 Kohawk swimmers earned all-championship honors.

In a six-year span, Ruffles had 13 individuals set State of Iowa age group records, while one relay set a record. He had eight sectional qualifiers, while also having 16 central zones qualifiers. During the summer of 2013, he served as the Head Coach of the Team Iowa Zones staff.

Ruffles earned his Bachelor of Scicence in Mathematics from SUNY-Fredonia in 2008, while also earning a minor in coaching. He finished a Master of Arts in Education from Coe in 2011.
