Shannon Olson

Volunteer assistant coach Shannon Olson has long been an avid runner, cyclist, and triathlete.  She has completed running events ranging from the 5K to the half marathon, multiple cycling gran fondos at events across the country, several sprint triathlons and hopes to complete her first IRONMAN-distance triathlon in 2020.

Olson received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and her law degree from the University of Kansas. She practiced law for over 20 years, primarily as a state and federal prosecutor. She most recently served as the Appellate Chief for the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa before leaving the practice of law to spend more time with family.

Shannon is married to Dr. John K. Olson, MD, and they live in Cedar Rapids with their two children, Lindsay and Liam.
