LINCOLN, Neb. - The Coe College football team had a historic day of offensive production in a 56-21 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. With the win Coe improves to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the A-R-C which has them just one game behind undefeated Wartburg (5-0) in the conference. The Kohawks were led by
Quentin White with 30-38 passing for 404 yard and four touchdowns. Twin brother
Colton White hauled in 14 of those passes, totaling 172 yard and three touchdowns. With the performances Quentin moves into third place in Coe's history for most passing yards in a single game while Colton is now tied for second in most catches in a single game.
Coe jumped out to a hot start, getting a 38-yard completion from
Quentin White to
Mitch Stopko. Five plays later
Tyler Dralle punched it in from two yards out, capping off an eight-play, 75-yard drive to put the Kohawks up 7-0. NWU moved the ball down into the redzone on the ensuing possession but a third down interception at the one-yard line by
Logan Rickard kept the Prairie Wolves off the scoreboard. After Rickard's return to the 12-yard line, Coe took the ball 88-yards on 15 plays, and capped it off with Dralle's second rushing touchdown of the day to move ahead 14-0 with 2:05 left in the first quarter.
Nebraska Wesleyan took over on its own 25-yard line after a touchback but just three plays into the drive quarterback Jonathan Curti was intercepted by
AJ Christensen who returned it for seven-yards to the Prairie Wolves 37-yard line.
Quentin White struck on the next play, hooking up with
Joshua Bishop for a 37-yard score to put the Kohawks ahead 21-0 with 57 seconds left in the first.
Despite trailing by three touchdowns the Prairie Wolves bounced back at the beginning of the second quarter with a six play, 65-yard touchdown drive. Curti ran it in from five-yards out for NWU, who cut the Coe lead to 21-7. After the kickoff, the Kohawks took over on their own 23-yard line, having scored touchdowns on their first three drives of the game.

Colton White, on a 29-yard dime on third and seven.
Tristan Connell connected on his fourth extra point of the day to put Coe ahead 28-7 with 9:16 left in the first half.
NWU and Coe then traded scoreless drives despite both teams moving the ball into the opposing territory, but the Prairie Wolves cut into the Kohawk lead with a six play, 84-yard touchdown drive. On fourth and nine, Curti hooked up with Colby Ensz for the 43-yard score to cut the deficit to 14 with 1:37 left in the half. Despite little time on the clock,
Quentin White orchestrated a 10 play, 75-yard touchdown drive, which included six completions and the touchdown pass to twin brother
Colton White. The score put Coe back in front 35-14 at the halftime break.
The Kohawk defense continued to wreak havoc on the first drive of the third quarter, as
Marquis Haastrup came up with a fumble recovery after
Cam Elam's sack of Curti. Coe took over on its on 42-yard line and continued to shine offensively. The White brothers stayed hot as Quentin connected with Colton for a 26-yard touchdown, capping off a seven play, 58-yard drive. Coe took its biggest lead of the day at 42-14 with 9:17 to play in the third quarter.
NWU wouldn't go away regardless of the score as the Prairie Wolves organized a 17 play, 75-yard touchdown drive that was capped off with a 15-yard Curti completion to Derrick Curtis. Nebraska Wesleyan cut the score to 42-21 with the extra point with just three seconds left in the third. With its large lead, Coe took over in the fourth quarter and put the game on ice. The Kohawks went on an 11 play, 75-yard touchdown drive which was capped off by a
Cody Russell touchdown from one-yard out. Connell connected on the extra point and put Coe ahead 49-21 with 9:26 to play.
The Kohawks forced a three-and-out on the next drive for NWU and Christensen blocked and recovered a punt in the endzone for Coe's eighth touchdown of the day. Leading 56-21 with 8:10 remaining in the game, the Kohawk defense shut down the Prairie Wolves while the offense controlled the tempo to lock up the victory.
Next up: Coe returns to Cedar Rapids next week for homecoming against Simpson at 1 p.m.
