DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team dropped its final contest of the year 3-0 to Dubuque on Tuesday evening. Coe ends the regular season 7-11 overall and 2-6 in the A-R-C. The seven wins mark the most since the 2010 season for the Kohawks, improving on a winless season a year ago. Despite the conference victories, Coe finished seventh in the A-R-C, just one spot short of qualifying for the tournament.
The Kohawk defense proved tough to break down in the first half as they held Dubuque to just four shots on goal in the first 45 minutes.
Connor Teget stood tall in the first half, denying the Spartans as the score was level at zero at the break. Coe had two shots on goal from
Kyree Morney and
Noah Decker but the UD keeper kept the Kohawks off the score sheet.
The Spartan offense continued to attack in the second half and they finally broke through in the 69th minute when Glorie Luwara beat Teget to go-ahead 1-0. UD added to its total in the 76th minute, converting a penalty kick to increase its lead to 2-0. The Spartans scored a final time just two minutes later to seal the victory as Joel Johansson capitalized on a rebound opportunity to score.
