Men's Soccer Falls at Home to Simpson

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team fell 4-1 to Simpson College on Wednesday night at Clark Field. The loss drops Coe to 4-8 overall and 0-3 in the American Rivers Conference.

Simpson struck early in the contest as Enrique Idehen scored in the second minute to put the Storm ahead. Coe limited the early damage and trailed by just one after three Simpson shots within the first five minutes of action. The Kohawks drew even in the 20th minute as Matthew Joseph's corner found Brayden Koch in the box who headed the ball past the Storm keeper. The turning point in the match came just 15 minutes later when Joseph was shown a red card, sending the Kohawks down to 10 men for the remainder of the match.

Simpson took advantage of the extra man before the halftime whistle as Jordy Triana-Vasquez scored off an assist from Ian Dean putting the Storm up 2-1 in the 42nd minute.

The Storm opened the second half strong, creating multiple scoring opportunities. Simpson added two more goals to its tally in the 51st and 53rd minute to extend the lead to 4-1. Despite some solid scoring chances, the undermanned Kohawks were unable to cut into the Simpson lead for the remainder of the match.

Next Up: The Kohawks will return to action on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. when they host Cornell College in the fifth game of the 2019-20 Bremner Cup which is tied at two wins each.
