DECATUR, Illinois — The Coe College men's basketball team cruised to a 77-54 victory at Millikin University in its first road game of the year. The Kohawks outscored the Big Blue 37-20 in the first half and cruised to its second-straight victory of the season. Coe improves to 3-1 overall while Millikin drops to 0-4 for the campaign. Four Kohawks reached double-figures on the evening as Jacob Robertson, Adam McDermott, Austin Roth, and Ray Thrapp eclipsed the mark. As a team, Coe shot 31-of-66 from the floor and 8-of-21 from downtown while holding Millikin to just 30.8 percent from the field. 
 
Coe opened the game on fire, ripping off 15 of the first 18 points of the game to build an early lead. The Big Blue settled into the game around the 10:30 mark as they put together a 17-11 run over the next eight minutes to pull within six of the Coe lead. Leading 26-20 with just over 2:30 to play in the half, Coe erupted for the final 11 points of the frame to take control of the game prior to the break. Thrapp had two buckets in the final minute to cap off the run and put the Kohawks ahead for good. 
 
In the first half, Coe shot 16-of-32 from the field while connecting on four deep-balls. Defensively, the Kohawks held the Big Blue to just eight field goals in the first half on 29.6 percent shooting. 
 
The Kohawks continued to build the lead early in the second half, putting together an 11-4 run in the first five minutes of the frame, putting the Big Blue out of reach. Despite Millikin getting into a rhythm during the second half, Coe was able to protect its lead with an efficient offensive gameplan and solid defense.
 
Up Next: Coe continues to 2019-20 campaign with a trip to St. Louis to participate in the Lopata Classic, hosted by Wash U. The tournament will start for Coe with a matchup against Wash U on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m.
