Alma, Mich – The Kohawks Women's Soccer team won their first game of the regular season, 3-2, Friday afternoon against Alma College Scots in overtime.
The Kohawks struck first in the first period with a goal by Freshman forward,
Amanda Hiebert in 28th minute.
The second period gave more drive for both teams, as the Scots' Lily Stephen scored a solo shot in the 49th minute to tie the game. Coe's offense fought back with Junior forward,
Sydney Schroder scoring in the 65th minute. Within 10 minutes, Alma's Lexi Russell scored on Coe's goalkeeper, Kasey Baker, to bring the game into overtime.
The Kohawks rallied up and in just 4 minutes of overtime, Senior midfielder,
Morgan Petsche, with an assist by
Sydney Schroder, scored to bring the Kohawks to 1-0 to start the season.
Baker earned 5 saves for the day, with 45 minutes of playing time.
Coe continues their weekend road trip, playing the Albion College Britons Saturday, August 31st at 1pm before the Kohawks home opener, Thursday, September 5th against conference opponent Grinnell.
