Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The Kohawks lost 5-2 in their home opener against the Carroll University Pioneers Sunday afternoon at Clark Field.
The Pioneers took the lead first in the 36th minute with an unassisted goal by Gabriel Mundo. Coe attacked back with a goal by Freshman Forward
Andrew Burdick, assisted by
Andrew Russell in the 43rd minute.
It was back-and-forth between the 2 teams leading up to halftime. Carroll's Jack Daly scored in the 44th minute and Coe's
Matthew Joseph scored on a penalty kick in the 45th minute of play to send the Kohawks into halftime tied, 2-2.
It was Carroll doing all the scoring during the second half with goals by Shea Connell in the 52nd minute, Ryan Coughlin on a penalty kick in the 68th minute, and Connell again in 85th minute.
Both the Kohawks and Pioneers received yellow card in the game. Coe also received a red card in the 65th minute of play forcing them to finish the final 25 minutes with 10 men.

The Kohawks return to Clark Field for the Coe College Kickoff Tournament, Friday, September 6th at 7pm when they face off against North Central College.
