Kohawks double up Mount Mercy

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Kohawks got a non-conference win Wednesday, September 11th, night over the Mount Mercy Mustangs 4-2. 

The Kohawks took a walk down the street to take on Mount Mercy Wednesday at Plaster Athletics Complex. After walking down the street the Kohawks ran past the Mustangs for a 4-2 win. Coe outscored the Mustangs 2-1 in each half. 

Coe got out to a quick start taking a 2-0 lead just under 30 minutes in to the game. Amanda Hiebert got the opening goal in the 18th minute off an assist from Morgan Petsche. Ten minutes later Coe doubled their lead as Hiebert set up Sydney Schroder for the Kohawks second goal of the half. Mount Mercy responded with a goal from Carly Walker late in the half. 

Coe got a two more goals in the second half to regain control with a 4-1 lead before another late goal by Walker closed out the scoring for the night. Katelyn Evans started the scoring in the second half off an assist from Schroeder in the 50th minute. It was Evans first goal of the season. Schroeder picked up her second assist of the game in the 79th minute when she found Petsche for the final Kohawk goal.   

The Kohawks, now 4-1, got back to winning ways after their three game win streak was snapped at St. Catherines over the weekend. 

Coe next plays on Sunday, September 15th, at 1 p.m. as they host the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
