Kohawks win two of three at Knights Classic

Waverly, Iowa – The Kohawks played three games at Wartburg's Knight Classic over the past couple days winning two of the three games.
 
Coe started the weekend on Friday after with a 3-0 win over Webster. After pulling out a close first set 27-25 the Kohawks were in control the rest of the way. The Kohawks won the second set 25-17 before closing things out in the third set with a 25-18 win.
 
Four Kohawks recorded double-doubles in the win. Kate Tidman lead the way with 21 kills and 14 digs while Morgan Kluesner tallied the most digs with 17. Kluesner added 10 kills. Madi Parson finished with 12 kills and 14 digs while Elli Teeple recorded 44 assists and 10 digs.
 
The Kohawks concluded Friday with a five set loss to Concordia. It was a tough loss for the Kohawks as they took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-11. Leading 2-0 the Kohawks dropped the next two sets 25-15 and 25-19 forcing a deceive fifth set. Coe couldn't overcome Concordia's momentum as they fell in the five set 15-9 for their only loss of the weekend.
 
Tidman lead the Coe attack with 22 kills as four Kohawks recorded their second double-doubles of the day. Tidman added 15 digs. Kluesner recorded 11 kills and 16 digs while Parson had 17 kills and 14 digs. Teeple piled up assists with 50 to go along with 14 digs.
 
On Saturday, Coe concluded the weekend with a big win over the College of St. Scholastica who came into the game with just one loss. The Kohawks jumped on early winning each of the first two sets 25-22. Coe dropped the third set 25-18 before bouncing back to finish off the Saints with 25-18 win in the fourth set.
 
Tidman finished off an outstanding weekend with her third double-double finishing with 19 kills and 11 digs. Parson and Teeple also finished great weekends with their third double-double. Parson had 13 kills and 12 digs while Teeple had 37 assists and 15 digs. Kluesner lead the defense with 20 digs with Majda Suljic adding 18.
 
The Kohawks will begin conference play Wednesday, September 18th, at home against the University of Dubuque. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. start inside Kohawk Arena.
