Dubuque, Iowa – The Kohawks turned their focus to conference play on Saturday afternoon as they took on Loras College. After going 1-1 in two non-conference games Coe kicked off American Rivers play with a 24-7 win.
The Kohawks season began with a disappointing non-conference road performance before they got things headed in the right direction last week with a big win over rivalry Cornell. The Kohawks used win at home to build momentum has they headed into conference play this weekend. Coe kept things rolling on both sides of the ball in a 24-7 win over Loras.
The Kohawks got things going midway through the opening quarter on their third drive of the game. Sparked by an interception from senior defensive back
Hunter Semelroth, his third of the year, the Kohawks drove 46 yards on seven plays for the opening score of the game. The drive was capped off on a 13 yard pass from
Quentin White to
Tyler Dralle.
The Kohawks extended the lead in the second quarter with their longest scoring drive of the game. Coe used the passing game to drive the ball down the field after forcing a Duhawk punt. After successfully moving down the field through the air, Coe turned to their power back,
Cody Russell, for a five-yard touchdown run to cap off the 74-yard drive. The Duhawks got their lone score of the game to cut into the Kohawk lead just before the half. Duhawk quarterback, Noah Sigwarth connected with Jake Burgmeier for a 14-yard touchdown.
Coe came out of the locker room and immediately pushed their lead back to a two score advantage. The Kohawks got the first possession of the half and drove it right down the field for their third score of the afternoon.

Colton White for a 26-yard touchdown. Coe added points on their second drive of the third quarter on a 25-yard field goal from Tristen Connell.
Despite three conscective turnovers from the end of the third quarter into the early parts of the fourth quarter the Kohawks maintained control of the game with a strong performance from the defense. The Kohawk defense shut out the Duhawks in the second half to support early scores from the offense. The strong defense and early scores would hold up the rest of the way as Coe defeated Loras 24-7.
The Kohawks outgained the Duhawks 412 to 309 by winning battle through the air, 311-247, and on the ground, 101-62. Coe collected 19 first downs while Loras had 17.
Quentin White threw for 311 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Kohawks.
Colton White was the favorite target with ten receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Eric Aguilar had six catches for 56 yards while
Max Teeple added 52 yards on three catches. The passing game was supported by
Tyler Dralle who rushed for 54 yards on 19 carries while Russell added 24 yards on three carries.
Semelroth lead the defense from his corner back positon with 11 tackles and an interception.
Manny Lopez recorded six tackles and a sack.
Marquis Haastrup, two and half sacks, and Nolan Merchert, two sacks, brought the pressure up front.
Logan Rickard add an interception for the Kohawks.
Coe returns to Clark Field next weekend as they host Luther College on Saturday, September 28
th. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Clark Field.
