Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- The Kohawks men's soccer team battled a rain-filled September afternoon in their loss against non-conference opponent, Augustana, 0-1, at Clark Field.
The lone goal of the game came from Augustana's, Matt Allen, off of a penalty kick in 33rd minute of the first half. The penalty kick came after a hand ball was called in the box.
Trailing 1-0 the Kohawk put pressure on the Knights goal late in the second with four shots, with on target. The Kohawk attack came primariliy off corner kicks as three off their late opportunities came off corner kicks. Coe was unable to put anything passed the Augustana goalie as the Knights held off Coe, 1-0.
Coe recorded nine shots on goal and four corner kicks in the game. While goalkeeper,
Connor Teget, kept Coe within stiking distance recroding 5 saves in the game. The loss brings the Coe record to 4-4.
The Kohawks next game is at Monmouth College on Tues, Sept. 24th at 3pm. Coe men's soccer plays their first American Rivers Conference game Saturday, Sept. 28th at 6pm where they will face off against Loras College in Dubuque.
