AMES, Iowa – The Coe College women's triathlon team opened its 2020 competition schedule at the sixth-annual InCdyemen hosted by Iowa State University. Three Kohawks competed in the event as
Natalie Wilkinson, Janielle Cobler and
Ella White were all apart of the field which featured 17 athletes from six schools. Athletes from Iowa State University, University of Iowa, Newman University, University of Missouri and UW-Eau Claire joined the Kohawks in the race.
The indoor-triathlon, which is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, consists of a 500-yard swim in the Beyer competition pool, an 8-mile bike in the State Gym Spin Room, and a 2-mile run on the State Gym Indoor Track. This event is a qualifier for both the 2018 Age Group and Collegiate National Championship races.
Wilkinson had the best finish of the three Kohawks, taking ninth place with a total time of 48:54. Cobler (12) and White (15) joined Wilkinson with top-15 finishes as they posted total times of 50:06 and 52:38. Cobler had the fifth-best time in both the bike portion and run portion of the race while Wilkinson had the sixth-fastest swim time and eighth-fastest run time. White made up significant time during the bike portion of the race, posting the eighth-fastest time of the event.
Up next: The squad will be back in action next month at the University of Iowa Tri-owa indoor Triathlon which will take place on Sunday, February 2nd.
