Men's Tennis Picks up Two Victories to Extend Win-Streak to Four

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team continued its 2020 campaign with two more wins as it knocked of A-R-C opponent Wartburg and non-conference foe UW-Lacrosse. The Kohawks swept Wartburg 9-0 in the morning match and then took down UWL 6-3 in the afternoon match to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Rami Hemaidan/Bo Wilson opened the Kohawks first conference match with a convincing 8-2 victory at #1 doubles. Jon Lansing/Nathan Meskell then followed suit, recording an 8-2 victory a #2 doubles to give Coe the 2-0 advantage in doubles play. Jordan Oaks/Tyler Nelson completed the doubles sweep, again winning 8-2 at #3 doubles to give Coe a 3-0 lead heading into singles. The Kohawks then went on to win all six singles matches, dropping just eight games in all but the #1 singles match as Hemaidan (#2), WIlson (#3), Adrian Savic (#4), Meskell (#5) and Jordan Oaks (#6) all dominated their opponents. Nate Greiner (#1) won a back-and-forth match in a third set, knocking off his opponent 11-9 to secure his victory.

The Kohawks had a strong start to doubles play in the afternoon match against UWL, as Greiner/Nelson won 8-1 at #2 doubles while Hemaidan/Wilson made it 2-0 with an 8-3 victory at #1 doubles. The Eagles did salvage one point from doubles, winning the #3 doubles match to keep the match interesting. UWL then won the opening match in singles play at #1 singles to even the match a 2-2 but Coe then won four-straight matches to clinch the team victory. Hemaidan (#2), Lansing (#3), Wilson (#4) and Meskell (#6) all picked up victories in their respective matches to secure the perfect day for Coe.

Up Next: The Kohawks return to action on February 15 when they travel to Moline, IL. for a pair of meets against Rose-Hulman and Augustana (IL.) at the Quad City Tennis Club.
