CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team shutout Concordia 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Clark Racquet Center. The Kohawks opened with an impressive effort in doubles and then swept through singles play to lock up the victory. The result moves Coe to 8-2 overall while Concordia falls to 4-4.
Coe started strong in doubles competition, picking up victories in all three matches while dropping just five points.
Rami Hemaidan/Bo Wilson opened with an 8-0 win at #1 while
Nathan Meskell/Jon Lansing made it 2-0 with an 8-1 victory at #3.
Nate Greiner/Tyler Nelson completed the doubles sweep at #2 with an 8-4 win to make it 3-0 heading into singles. The Kohawk dominance continued in singles as they won five of the six matches in two sets. Hemaidan and Wilson kicked off singles with 6-0, 6-1 victories over their opponents from the #1 and #4 positions to give Coe the 5-0 lead. Lansing then made it 6-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3 while Greiner picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win to make it 7-0. Nelson and
Jordan Oaks then made it a perfect sweep for Coe with victories from the #5 and #6 positions to round out the match.
Up next: The Kohawks will be off until next week when they head to Florida for their spring break trip. During the trip, Coe will play five matches across five days.
