CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team fell 7-2 to Concordia (NE) on Monday evening at Clark Racquet Center. The Kohawks trailed just 2-1 heading into singles play but the Bulldogs dominated the singles competition to get past Coe. The result drops Coe to 8-9 overall while Concordia improves to 5-2 on the year.
Coe and Concordia battled in doubles to open the match but the Bulldogs won at #1 and #3 to hold the early lead. The lone Kohawk victory came from #2 where
Victoria Montoya/Ella White won 8-3 over their opponents to get Coe on the board. The Bulldogs continued to show well in singles play, winning five of the six matches to ensure the victory. Coe's only team point came from the #1 position where
Eliza Sundermann recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Although the Kohawks mustered just one team point, Coe went down swinging, forcing a third set in three of the six singles matches.
Up next: Coe will be off until next week when it heads to Floria for its spring break trip. During the trip, the Kohawks will play five matches across five days.
