CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team defeated Central on Friday night at Kohawk Arena, knocking off the Dutch 3-0. The Kohawks cruised to victory in the opening set with a 25-20 win and battled back from a six-point deficit in set two to grab an early 2-0 lead. Coe dominated the final set, winning 25-10 as Central committed six attacking errors en route to the victory for the Kohawks. The win moves Coe to 19-7 on the season and 6-1 in the American Rivers Conference while Central falls to 14-9 overall and 3-3 in the A-R-C.

Match Facts
- The Kohawks got off to a solid start in the match, earning a 25-20 victory in the first set thanks to five early kills from middle hitter Gracie Urbatsch and four from outside hitter Kate Tidman. Central committed three service, blocking, receiving and attacking errors in the opening frame, giving Coe enough help to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Central battled back in the second period, opening up an early 13-6 lead to force head coach DeAnn Akins into an early timeout. Coe began to claw into the lead following the timeout, ripping off a 15-4 spurt to flip the match on its head as the Kohawks took a 21-20 lead. Central showed no panic despite the big run from Coe, bouncing back to regain a 24-23 lead in the set but Coe scored three straight to claim a 26-24 victory in the period.
- Coe raced out to an early lead in the third set, building up a 10-4 lead before Central took a timeout to stop the run. The Kohawks continued to build upon their lead following the break, outscoring the Dutch 8-4 to force another timeout from the visitors. The momentum didn't stop for Coe after the timeout as it continued to dominate en route to a 25-10 victory and a 3-0 sweep.
