CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's volleyball team beat Central 3-0 on Sunday evening at Kohawk Arena in the team's opening game of the season. The Kohawks won the opening set of the match 25-18 and downed the Dutch 25-22 in set two and 25-15 in set three en route to the season-opening victory. 
 
Coe was led by Kate Tidman who posted a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs as Morgan Kluesner finished just two digs short with 10 kills and eight digs. Elli Teeple had 38 assists in the match while Madi Parson recorded 11 kills, eight digs and three aces. Majda Suljic finished with eight digs and two aces.  
 
Central opened the first set hot, taking an early 5-2 lead after a kill from Hallie Uhlig. Coe responded back immediately, ripping off an 11-5 spurt which included three kills from Tidman, giving Coe a 13-9 advantage in set one. The Kohawks continued to dominate in the remainder of set one, defeating the Dutch 25-18 to take an early 1-0 lead. Coe recorded three service aces in the opening set as well as 17 kills. 
 
It was back-and-forth to begin the second set as the two teams were tied at 9 but a short spurt from the Dutch gave them a 13-11 lead forcing a timeout from Coe. Following the timeout, Coe scored nine of the next 14 points to take a 20-18 lead as Central called timeout to stop the run. Out of the break, the Kohawks traded points with the Dutch but they used a match-ending 3-0 run to secure the second set. 
 
Coe dominated the third set from the jump, building a 7-2 lead and forcing a timeout from Central. The Dutch fought hard to close the gap for the remainder of the set, but the Kohawks had an answer for every run they could put together. Coe continued to lead comfortably in set three and went on to win 25-15, clinching the 3-0 sweep of Central. 
 
Up next: The Kohawks will be in action on February, Tuesday 23 when they travel to Wartburg for an A-R-C matchup at 7:30 p.m.
