CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team swept Nebraska Wesleyan 3-0 on Wednesday evening at Kohawk Arena. The Kohawks won set one 25-22 to take an early lead and then completed the sweep in sets two and three dominating NWU 25-13 in set two and 25-14 in set three. The win is Coe's fifth-straight and moves it to 6-1 overall and in the league while Nebraska Wesleyan drops to 3-4 overall and in the A-R-C.

Kate Tidman and
Grace Lueken led the squad posting 13 and 11 kills respectively. Lueken was on fire, hitting at a clip of .600 while committing zero errors in the match while Tidman added 10 digs to record a double-double. Kluesner also stood out on her senior night, posting nine kills and nine digs while adding one service ace.
Madi Parson ended the match with nine kills, 12 digs and two service aces, attacking at .304 percent. Overall, Coe hit .347 as a team, committing just 10 total attacking errors in the match. The Kohawks also added 53 digs and 41 assists in the match.
The Kohawks and Prairie Wolves battled to open the contest, with neither team taking a lead larger than two points. With the score tied at 15, Coe would put together three-straight points to take command of the set at 18-15. Following a timeout, the Kohawks would build upon their lead, pushing it 23-18 but the Prairie Wolves refused to go away. NWU used then scored three-straight points to put pressure on Coe but it managed the final few points to secure set one.
Coe took an early lead in set two, opening up a 5-2 advantage after three-straight points which included a kill from Lueken. The Prairie Wolves stayed tough and ripped-off a 5-2 stretch to close the gap and make the score 8-7. The Kohawks then took total control, scoring seven of the next 10 points to push their lead to 15-10. NWU would fight for the remainder of the second set but five-straight points late in the set for Coe ended any comeback hope.
The Kohawks again got off to a good start in set three, taking an early 3-1 lead after an opening kill from Parson and a kill and service ace from Lueken. The P-Wolves fought back to tie the score at six which kicked-off a long back-and-forth rally with the teams trading points. Coe then took control of the game, thanks to three-straight points including two kills from Tidman, giving the Kohawks a 13-9 lead. NWU scored two-straight points to stop the bleeding but Coach Akins' team scored five of the next six points to force a Prairie Wolf timeout. The Kohawks continued to dominate after the timeout, scoring four-straight points to put the match out of reach for the P-Wolves.
Up next: Coe will round out their 2021 season on Saturday, March 20 when they travel to Dubuque to take on Loras College at 2 p.m.
