CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team fell to Dubuque 4-0 on Wednesday evening at Clark Field. Dubuque scored a goal in the opening 10 minutes of play, off a long throw which found a Spartan head and crept under the crossbar. The Kohawks created a few chances in the latter stages of the first half but were unable to get on the board before the break. Dubuque found the back of the net three more times in the second half to secure the victory as the Kohawks dropped to 0-7 overall while the Spartans improved to 6-1-1. Blake Jungman and
Zachary Mooney while
Isaac Keppler made nine saves.
Dubuque got on the score sheet early after a solid start from both teams as the Spartans tallied the opener in the 8th minute on a long throw which found a Spartan head in the box. Both teams grew into the game in the remainder of the half as chances arose at both ends but neither squad managed to score before the end of the first. The Spartans scored another early goal, this time striking in the 54th minute of the half as Glorie Luwara scored on a rebound opportunity. Dubuque then put the game out of reach in the 76th minute when Saud Smajlovic scored off an assist from Alessandro Corazzina.
Up next: Coe will finish the 2021 spring schedule on Saturday evening when it hosts Buena Vista at 7:30 p.m. at Clark Field.
