CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team earned its first win of the season on Saturday evening, defeating Buena Vista 9-1 at Clark Field.
Sydney Schroder bagged a first-half hat-trick while
Teresa Knudson added one to make it 4-0 at the break. After the break, Coe added five more goals including another from Knudson as they cruised to the win. The victory moves the Kohawks to 1-7 overall and in the A-R-C while Buena Vista drops to 0-8.
Coe dominated from the jump, recording six shots in the opening 13-plus minutes of the game. Schroder got on the score sheet in the 15th minute as she tallied her second goal of the season as
Stephanie Naskrent recorded her first assist. Just over one minute later,
Teresa Knudson scored her first goal of the night as
Mackenzie Jones picked up the helper. After another 15 minutes of dominance from Coe, made it 3-0 as Schroder found the back of the net for the second time, this time off an assist from
Jordan Rosas. The Kohawks then made it 4-0 as Schroder locked up the hat-trick in the 42nd minute as she followed up a
Kenzie Brandenburg shot for her third of the half.
After the break, Coe continued to threaten offensively, tallying three more goals in the opening 15-plus minutes of action. Naskrent got her second of the night in the 49th minute thanks to an assist from
Lauren Dufoe who scored just four minutes later in the 53rd as she also tallied her second of the evening. The Kohawks were then awarded a penalty kick in the 59th minute which
Teresa Knudson stepped up and buried, making it 7-0.
Carlin Morsch and
Sienna Stucke scored Coe's final two goals of the evening, scoring in the 72nd and 78th minutes respectively to make it nine on the evening.
