Kohawks Set for Trio of Matches

This Week:
Coe Men's Tennis will continue their stretch of road matches this week competing in Pella against Central College (10am) and Buena Vista University (2pm) on Saturday. The Kohawks will return home to take on University of Wisconsin Whitewater on Sunday (1pm) at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School, due to the damage to the Clark Racquet Center's outdoor courts from the August derecho.

On Coe:
The Kohawks are 10-1 (4-0) during the 2021 campaign led by a group of juniors in Rami Hemaidan, Jon Lansing, Nathan Meskell & Bo Wilson. Coe's doubles team of Jon Lansing and Nathan Meskell are unbeaten this spring (10-0) at the number two doubles slot.
 
Central Breakdown:
  • The Dutch are 1-1 (1-1 A-R-C). Central split their opening double header with a win against Simpson (9-0) and falling to Luther (0-9).
  • Will Isiminger leads the Dutch at the top singles and doubles spots where he has played over the course of his career.
  • In the last meeting, the Kohawks too an 8-1 win at the CRC back on 3/30/2019
 
Buena Vista Breakdown:
  • The Beavers are 1-2 (1-1 A-R-C). BVU fell in their last meet against the University of Northwestern MN (0-9)
  • Danny Kramer leads the Beavers at the top singles and doubles spots
  • In the last meeting, the Kohawks won 9-0 in Dubuque, IA on 4/20/2019
 
Whitewater Breakdown:
  • The Warhawks are 6-1 overall. UWW won their last match against Wheaton IL 8-1 at home
  • Brayden Kopp and Brendan Pietila pace the Warhawks with team best 6-1 records on the singles court. Alex Gray/Ryan Mitchell and Noah Guillermo/Cole Lindwall lead the team in doubles each with 4-1 records.
  • In the last meeting, the Kohawks narrowly fell on the road in Whitewater, WI 4-5
 
Defending Home Court:
Coe has won its first eight home matches of the 2021 season. The Kohawks have won 19 of their last 20 matches at the Clark Racquet Center dating back to March, 2019.
 
Kohawk Notables:
  • Wilson leads the way with a team best 10-1 record in singles play.
  • Lansing and Meskell remain undefeated on the doubles court at 10-0 this spring at the number two spot.
  • Hemaidan leads the current roster with 73 career wins. Hemaidan in 2019 garnered 27 doubles wins which sits tied for eighth among single season total doubles wins.
 
Head Coach Eric Rodgers:
Eric Rodgers is in his 32nd year as Head Coach of the Coe Men's Tennis program. Rodgers was also the Head Coach of the Women's program until the summer of 2014. Rodgers currently holds 814 career wins at Coe, and has led 17 Coe Men's teams to regular season conference championships, 13 conference tournament championships & 13 NCAA Team Tournament appearances.
