ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Coe College volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, falling 3-1 to Hamline University before downing Macalester 3-0 in the afternoon contest. The Kohawks, who won the opening set in match one, saw the Pipers win three straight sets to give Coe its first loss of the year. The squad bounced back in the second match, sweeping the host Macalester while holding the Scots to under 20 points in each set. The split moves Coe to 3-1 after the first weekend of action, the team's best start since the 2015 campaign.

- The Kohawks were on fire in set one, posting a .317 hitting percentage while committing just one error.
- Hamline hit a game-high .393 in the fourth set, committing only three errors and posting 14 kills.
- The Pipers had six blocks in the final set, holding the Kohawks to just nine kills and an attack percentage of .063.
- Despite the loss, Elli Teeple dished out 41 assists as Majda Suljic posted a team-high 21 digs. Grace Lueken led the squad with 15 kills while Kate Tidman added her second double-double of the season with 12 kills and 14 digs.

- Coe dominated Macalester in its final match of the tournament, holding it to an attacking percentage of .078.
- The Kohawks, who hit .306 in the opening set, committed only two errors en route to the 25-15 set one victory.
- The team had a season-high five blocks in the match, including two from Lueken and Gracie Urbatsch and one from Madi Parson. The Kohawks also posted a 2021-best, nine aces as Parson led the squad with three in the match.
- Teeple and Suljic stood out on defense, pitching in with 17 and 19 digs respectively. Teeple also posted 31 assists in the match and earned her first double-double of the season.
Up next: The Kohawks return to action on Wednesday, September 8 when they travel to Mount Vernon for a matchup with Cornell College at 7 p.m.
