Dubuque Knocks Off Women’s Basketball After Strong Third Quarter

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's basketball team suffered a narrow 60-59 defeat to A-R-C foe, Dubuque, on Wednesday evening at Kohawk Arena. The Kohawks took a 33-32 lead into the halftime break but the Spartans outscored the hosts 19-13 in the third quarter to regain control of the contest. UD then hung tough for the final 10 minutes of action as Coe attempted to mount its own comeback but the Kohawks fell just short in the end. The loss drops the Kohawks to 4-10 on the season and 1-4 in the A-R-C while UD improves to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in league action.

Coe was led by freshman guard Ellie Wisner as she scored a team-high 19 points while shooting 6-of-13 from the floor. Alyse Southard was second on the team with 15 points, going 5-of-5 from the free-throw line while sophomore Kaalyn Petersen registered her eighth double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 boards. The forward also added a team-high five assists on offense while posting three steals and two blocks.
